I provide editing services to a wide range of non-fiction writing projects, from business and technology white papers and research reports to book-length narrative non-ficton projects.
My skill lies in my ability to identify and organize themes, structure, and flow, in any type of writing. I have an eagle eye for identifying where voice, pacing, and stakes falter, and am able to gently guide the writer toward solutions that will improve the writing without compromising the voice, style, and direction of the piece.
I have edited the work of career writers and also novices, with equal success. Experienced writers benefit from my thorough approach and my talent for elevating and exploiting story structure to create stronger narratives. Novice writers know they are in trusted hands with an editor who will amplify their strengths and support them through their weaknesses.
I was a writing coach for The Memoir Project (a grant-funded joint venture between the City of Boston and Grub Street, Inc.) that offered memoir-writing workshops to senior citizens living in each of Boston’s unique neighborhoods. I worked one-on-one with several of these “new” writers to help them identify an essay topic, mine that topic for detail and sensory nuance, helped participants find and explore their writing voice, and helped them shape, refine, and polish their essays. This project culminated in the publication of a multi-volume essay collection.
If I can do that, I can work with anyone, no matter the intended output: research report, white paper, narrative essay, or book length work.
Please contact me and tell me about your project. I’m happy to help.
